  Ms. Jaclyn’s training began in Youngstown, Ohio. She went on achieve her Bachelor’s in Fine Arts degree from the Ohio State University with a focus in technology, production and performance as well as arts management. Her talents were put to work at OSU where she taught undergraduate dance classes, and facilitated Dance Major auditions with Professor Mockabee while bringing back the annual Jazz/Tap concert for budding choreographers.  Recently named in the Who's Who National Registry for Business owners, Jaclyn's fearlessness has pushed CORE to become the fastest growing dance school in our area and is recognized by Dance publications for her marketing techniques and success since 2004. 

Her combinations of traditional and contemporary styles create unique pieces from beginner to the most advanced dancers and range from high school musicals to Off-Broadway performances with the American Tap Dance Foundation, The 2003 Elan Awards honoring  Rob Marshall from the motion picture Chicago and as a featured dancer in the Garden State Dance Festival among others. She has been invited by 2008headshotbw.jpgcountless companies such as J&J's Dance, BCIT and BCC as well as Westminster College to create choreography and curriculums including local public and private high schools. Ms. Jaclyn maintains her own training at STEPS on Broadway in NYC and introduces her students to the “scene” as often as possible. Jaclyn’s dedication as an educator has allowed her to reach into various aspects of the dance industry such as competition judging, and the development of a system of exercises and techniques based upon Myo-Skeletal Therapy used to strengthen dancers who have sustained injuries or suffer from chronic weaknesses.  Ms. Smith also participates in National Dance Week as a State Delegate. She works for the Costume Gallery, posing models for their annual costume catalogs and helps raise money for Dance for the Cure.  Through Wee Kids Early Learning Center in Hainesport, Ms. Jaclyn is implementing an after school program for the elementary children at schools in our county.  Her teaching can be enjoyed at local schools and day care centers and her dancers have gone on to successful careers at esteemed Colleges and Universities such as Ohio State, Boston Conservatory, Fordham, Montclair... In 2008, Jaclyn began a course for Graduating SR's that will prepare them for auditions, interviews and other areas for entrance into a professional arts career.

  Jaclyn's projects include the management of the performance group, Xtensions, for community outreach and the development of young dancers. bodyshotgreen.jpgXtensions has performed at the Jeanne Ruddy Performance Garage in Philadelphia, the Garden State Dance Festival and Project Dance.  In 2010, the company was recognized by the esteemed panel of judges from "So, You Think You Can Dance."   With choreography by fellow teachers, Diana Alfieri and Lauren Rahilly, the cast received national awards and will present at the PULSE National Convention in NYC in summer of 2010.  During the 2009-2010 dance season, Ms. Jaclyn implemented a Master Class workshop on behalf of CORE that will travels nationally and includes Teachers' Training syllabi, pre-professional coursework and choreography as well as kinesiology for the dancer. 
Together with Diana Alfieri, a full curriculum for an Associate of Fine Arts in Dance was designed and presented to BCC- The program was accepted and commenced in Fall of 2010 at the Mt. Holly campus.
With long time friend and faculty member, Brice Johnson of Season 8's "So You Think You Can Dance," Jaclyn will be directing DanceTouchCollective with fellow cast mates, MyKey Stanzione, Tadd Gadduang and Wadi Jones.  DanceTouch Collective believes dance, as an artform, can unlock one’s own human potential, break down barriers and connect a community. DTC workshops present an electrifying faculty, using Contemporary Dance, Hip Hop and Choreography to inspire our youth through their own life experiences.  Contact Jaclyn directly for more details, jaclyn@dancetouch.com

What started as a random decision for her mother to enroll her in classes at a new local dance school, soon grew into a passion that Lauren Rahilly has been pursuing since the age of four. Miss Rahilly has been classically trained in Ballet & Pointe, Lyrical, Tap, Jazz and Hip Hop. Becoming a dance educator at the studio where she grew up, she furthered her dance education by attending additional conventions, workshops and competitions. Not only has Lauren shared her love of dance with her school but she has also devoted herself to sharing her talents with the community around her. Lauren represents CORE's acclaimed Early Childhood Program at a number of local pre-schools and day care centers.  Lauren has helped raise thousands of dollars through dance for such charitable foundations as Samaritan Hospice and Providence HLauren-Rahilly.jpgouse, both of Burlington County. Her choreography has been featured in community performances for local events, performances by Arcadia University’s Knight Club Dance Company and most recently was sought after to be represented by DDO Arts Agency to appear in national venues and multi-media outlets. Lauren’s choreography has also earned various awards such as choreography, performance and top score awards. Her dedication to Rancocas Valley earned her choreography opportunities with the Nationally ranked Dance Team.  With a degree in Psychology from Arcadia University, Lauren worked for the Masonic Home of NJ.  She has pursued additional certifications in fitness, including Turbo Kick®, CrossFit, and Zumba®. Working alongside Diana Alfieri, her choreography was recognized at the Pulse National Convention as a staff favorite by the esteemed panel from "So, you think you can dance" including Mia Michaels, Cris Judd and more.  The piece presented in NYC in summer of 2010.

Diana Alfieri is a Cum Laude graduate of Montclair State University with a BFA in Dance and served as Managing Director of CORE Academy in 2010 and 2011. Favorite credits include Dancing back up to pop singer Jesse McCartney and R&B artist Nick Cannon; Playing Fransisca in West Side Story at the Carousel Theatre in Akron, OH as well as dancing the summer stages at HersheyPark multiple times! Diana has served pulse2010.jpgas assistant to the choreographer for the Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleaders and the Mask and Wig Club at the University of Pennsylvania. Diana is currently serving as Managing Director for the Garden State Dance Festival, and is on staff as a dance educator, choreographer, and guest teacher at several studios in the Philadelphia area and at Burlington County College. Diana’s choreography has been recognized multiple times on the convention circuit and she has sent several students on to some of the areas most recognized colleges and universities for dance.  Working alongside Lauren Rahilly, her choreography was recognized at the Pulse National Convention as a staff favorite by the esteemed panel from "So, you think you can dance" including Mia Michaels, Cris Judd and more.  Together with Jaclyn A. Smith, a full curriculum for an Associate of Fine Arts in Dance was designed and presented to BCC- The program was accepted and commenced in Fall of 2010 at the Mt. Holly campus.  Diana will be teaching a full curriculum at BCIT Westampton in the 2011-2012 school year.

LaMia is from Camden NJ, a graduate of the city’s first arts high school. She attended the University of thelamiawebpic.JPG Arts in Philadelphia where she trained vigorously in ballet, modern, jazz and other cultural dances. Always an avid fan of hip-hop, LaMia began to delve into the dance style after joining Face Da Phlave a Hip Hop company that focuses on pure hip-hop movement and positivity. Through Face Da Phlave, LaMia has trained in the styles of locking, popping, breaking, and house and teaches each style at several studios in South Jersey. LaMia continues to train and perform in all forms of dance and performs as a dancer for the Garden State Dance Festival's repertoire company.  LaMia is currently performing with ICMovement in Philadelphia and travels internationally using dance as an instrument of education for young women.
With fellow guest instructor, Tony Rhodes, Lamia acts as Artistic Director of Xtreme Dance Academy in Pennsauken, NJ.

    Hip Hop, Community outreach and Master Classes    

Brice, aka Popkorn, is well versed in all hip hop styles and could be seen with the well-known company, Intermix Entertainment.  As co-owner and creator, Intermix Entertainment LLC was an entertainment management and production company. They provide hip hop, house, and dance aerobic instructors to studios, gyms, bar mitzvah events. They are the creators of Groovics, a dance inspired aerobics class that teaches the hip hop grooves from the 70’s to today. Well aligned with CORE's mission, Brice believes his responsibility as an educator is to inspire individuals of all ages to participate in dance regardless of age or skill level. "When we teach and perform, we “blend” all styles of hip hop dance together to create achieve more versatility and creativity within the classes and performances.
Brice competed as a "Top 30" contender on Season 8 of "So You Think You Can Dance" with MyKey Stanzione, Tadd Gadduang and Wadi Jones.  As Brice's newest invention and under the direction of Jaclyn A. Smith, they created DanceTouch Collective in 2011.  Brice's vision for Dance Touch includes a nationally touring workshop
that presents an electrifying faculty, using Contemporary Dance, Hip Hop and Choreography to inspire our youth through their own life experiences.   dtc.jpg

Uniting dancers worldwide, DTC provides a home base to the who, the where, the what’s HOT and what’s NOT. It is an opportunity to reach kids through dance, theater and technology to tackle topics such as character building, bullying and social awareness, healthy lifestyle and substance abuse. Aspiring artists will benefit from the HOW TO’s on making it in the entertainment industry. For the professional artists, dance touch will provide a place to network, collaborate, advertise, perform and enhance continued dance education.

   Ballet and Pointe Programs


Born in Yoshkar-Ola, Russia, Alexei began his ballet training at age nine and graduated from the Vaganova Ballet Academy in St. Petersburg – home of the famed ballet traditions developed by Agrippina Vaganova and Marius Petipa. His studies there included classical ballet, history of theater, history of music, acting, stage make-up, history of European and American ballet, character dance and pas de deux.

Mr. Charov started his professional career at the age of seventeen at the Donetsk Opera and Ballet House in Ukraine. He began touring nationally and abroad and enjoyed great success, quickly building a rich classical repertoire. In 1991 he moved to the United States and continued his performing career with the Indianapolis Ballet and the Pennsylvania Ballet, adding a wide collection of Balanchine works to his range.

Alexei has also performed in original works by many internationally acclaimed choreographers in a constellation of traditional and classical parts, which he has interpreted in new and exciting ways. His partners have included such ballet luminaries as Oscar-nominee Leslie Brown, Jodie Gates and Tatiana Pali, and his dancing has been highlighted and reviewed by the press in Europe and Asia, as well as in the United States.

As Director of Ballet Programs for the Koresh School of Dance in Philadelphia, Mr. Charov draws on his extensive teaching experience at numerous schools and conferences around the country. He is also currently a guest Master Teacher at the City Ballet of Houston, Texas, and teaches regularly at Dance Theatre of Pennsylvania.

   Ballet and Modern programs


 Melissa Rodis has just recently returned to the Philadelphia area, having spent the last couple years dancing and choreographing in Melbourne, Australia. While in Melbourne, she produced a season of emerging works at Dancehouse, providing several talented Australian artists the opportunity to showcase their work. Over the years, Melissa has had the opportunity to dance with and learn from a variety of artists and teachers in several environments, including Amherst College as a Theater and Dance major, the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, Summer Stages Dance at Concord Academy, and the various American College Dance Festival workshops. Always looking for variety in approaches to dance and choreography, she has performed in works by Wendy Woodson, Trisha Brown, John Jasperse, Stephen Koplowitz, and Keila Cordova. Particular mentors and idols include Wendy Woodson, Keila Cordova, Abby Yager, Risa Steinberg, Daniel Nagrin and Niki Cousineau. Melissa currently dances with Wabi Sabi Dance and allendance and is most especially excited to be returning to her first dance home.

   Modern and Choreography

Dana Balsamo recently graduated Cum Laude from Montclair State University where she received her BFA in Dance.  Upon graduation she was presented with the Linda Roberts Outstanding Senior Dance Award. Additionally, she spent two summers training in ballet and modern dance at Earl Mosley’s Institute of the Arts.  She has had the opportunity to perform works by renowned choreographers such as Robert Battle, danacompb.jpgFreddie DeJesus, Earl Mosley, Paul Taylor, Doug Varone, Kevin Wynn, Urban Bush Women, and others.  In March 2011, she shared the stage with world acclaimed, Golden Eagle award winner Yass Hakoshima for the NJ premiere of his work “Arguments.”  Dana was also chosen to showcase her choreography at Staten Island Modern 2011, The American College Dance Festival at Elon University, and Liz Lerman’s Critical Response Workshop at Montclair State University.  A former student of Core Academy, Dana is looking forward to returning for the 2011 season as a faculty member.

    Intermediate  and Advanced Ballet and Modern
    
Recently chosen as an Eagles Cheerleader for the 2010-2011 season, Jennifer's inspiration began when she first started dancing at the age of three.  Her early years of dance training were spent concentrating seriously on her ballet technique.  She studied mostly under the instruction of Michele DiCola-Sasse, Shaun Doyle, and Viktor Yeliohin.  She continued her study of dance at Goucher College in Baltimore, MD for one year before transferring to The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA.  During her college experience, Jennifer grew much more diverse as a dancer, studying all dance forms and concentrating seriously on modern dance.  At The University of the Arts, she had the opportunity to perform at the Merriam Theater and at the Drake Theater, where she also showcased her own choreography.  She has worked with choreographers Silvanna Cardell, Matthew Neenan, Andrewjenleap.jpg Pap, and Brian Sanders and also had the privilege of performing “Steps in the Street” (1936) Excerpts from Chronicle, which was restaged for the university by Joyce Herring of the Martha Graham Company.  Jennifer recently graduated from UArts in May 2006 with her BFA in dance Education, with a concentration in modern dance.  She is now performing with Enso Ensemble, a modern dance company in New Jersey, and for Kinetic Outlaws, a newly developed modern company in Philadelphia. 

Miss Jen has attended the Dance Masters of America Teacher’s Training School in Buffalo, NY and is excited to be joining the dancers of CORE Academy in 2010.

   Hip Hop and Xtensions Choreographer
 

Kyle Clark a native of Baltimore, MD began dancing at the age of 9 at DeVe’s Christian School of the Performing Arts. He trained extensively in tap at DeVe’s as well as Steps on Broadway dance studio in New York from 1993-2000, which led to a great opportunity to perform on stage with the late great Gregory Hines in 1998. Kyle was inspired by Gregory Hines multitude of talents that went beyond dance. In 2001 he attended the American Summer Theater Dance Workshop in Long Island NY, where he took up singing, musical theater, ballet, and jazz. This opened his mind up to all avenues of dance.

Encouraged and inspired, Kyle moved to Philadelphia to attend the University of the Arts in 2002 to begin his formal training in Ballet, Modern, and Jazz. In January of 2003 Kyle began experimenting with tap choreography which led DeVe’s CSOPA to premier two of his works in Hawaii and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In that summer of 2003 he joined Philadanco’s second company under the direction of Donald T. Lundsford III and trained at Philadanco’s Training Program and Summer Intensive from 2003-2006. During his college career, he has worked with famous choreographers such Christopher Huggins, Rennie Harris, Zane Booker, Curt Haworth, and Bryan Sanders just to name a few. In 2004 Kyle was selected to be in Eleone Dance Theater First Company under the direction of Shawn- La’mere Williams. Shortly after earning his B.F.A in 2006, Kyle became a principle dancer with Eleone Dance Theater as well as a core member of Rennie Harris Puremovement Hip Hop Theater Dance Company. In 2010, he was promoted to Rehearsal Director for RHPM.

His dedication to his craft has afforded him travel to international countries such as France, UK, and Mexico performing and teaching Hip Hop workshops. Kyle has taught locally for Koresh School of Dance, Philadanco School of Dance Arts, Concord Dance Center, Bryn Mawr College Ensemble, Eleone Dance Unlimited, Love Arts Foundation, Philadelphia Arts and Education Partnership, and Point Breeze PAC. He is very passionate about the importance of the history, education, and articulation of dance to the inner city youth. So he serves as a dance instructor, mentor, and group leader to the inner city youth of Philadelphia.

Technical Stage Production, Music and Video Compilation
 

  No stranger to the arts, Chris has been working behind the scenes in stage and screen productions for the past 15 years.  He began his career by providing lighting, audio, and stage management services for a variety of high school and community theater performances.  While in still in high school, he worked for the stage management and rental company Earl Girls, Inc. out of Egg Harbor City, NJ.  Chris shifted gears in college to pursue work in television and multimedia production, earning a B.A. from Temple University and an M.A. from Syracuse University.  He developed a passion for TV sports production, and has since worked for NFL Films, ESPN, Comcast SportsNet, and the Philadelphia Phillies in a variety of roles including camera operator, editor, and associate director.  He is currently teaching TV production classes and working full time as the Television Production Coordinator at Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ.  Still, Chris is happy to return to his roots in live stage and fine arts performance, and Cordelia's Royal Ball in 2011 marks his 6th show with CORE Academy.
